3. LAKE NYASA PORTS 3.1 Itungi port The port is located about 250 km from Mbeya Municipality/town and 14km from Kyela town. The port operates as a branch office for Lake Nyasa ports serving about 13 points along the lake. The port covers an area of about 1½ sq. km. The maximum draught at the quay is 3 meters. The port area has the workshop building – 300 sq. m., 1 passenger shed and generator house.
